Description

The fusion of music and artwork is the theme of choreographer Martin Chaix's author's evening. The ballet diptych Sinfoni(ett)a will bring back Chaix's ballet creations Dora and Slava to the stage, as well as the work Sinfonietta, which the French choreographer created for the Split ballet ensemble in 2017.
"Chaix's choreography is like the flicker of a candle, and the audience is like the hand that protects it," wrote a critic about the dance language of the French choreographer Martin Chaix, who found inspiration for the ballet Dora and Slava, which premiered at the 69th Split Summer Festival, in the lives of two Croatian artists, Dora Pejačević and Slava Raškaj, a composer and a painter who significantly influenced the Croatian artistic scene at the turn of the centuries. In the second part of the author's evening, Chaix's work Sinfonietta returns to the big stage, an exceptional fusion of two antitheses: Penderecki's sharp and dynamic composition meets the soft and serene blue creations of the painter Yves Klein.
