Autor Laurencije Vakhtang Čabukiani jedan je od najutjecajnijih plesača 20. stoljeća a koreografkinja Nina Ananiašvili, koja će s Baletom splitskog HNK postaviti predstavu, proglašena je jednom od najvećih svjetskih balerina svih vremena.
Laurencia je balet Vakhtanga Chabukianija, snažnog dramatskog naboja, temeljen na drami Lopea de Vege Fuente Ovejuna, na glazbu Aleksandra Kreina. Stvoren u doba kada se "koreodrama" smatrala jedinim prihvatljivim oblikom suvremenog baleta u predratnom Sovjetskom Savezu, ovaj balet predstavlja povratak istinskoj drami u kojoj je pokret bio sredstvo značenja. Priča o seljačkoj revoluciji u Španjolskoj bio je idealna je tema vremena u kojem je balet nastao.

Laurencia is a ballet by Vakhtang Chabukiani, with a strong dramatic charge, based on Lope de Vega's play Fuente Ovejuna, with music by Alexander Krein. Created when "choreodrama" was considered the only acceptable form of contemporary ballet in the pre-war Soviet Union, this ballet represents a return to true drama in which movement conveyed meaning. The story of a peasant revolution in Spain was an ideal theme for the time Chabukiani created the ballet.
